However, Hart must first overcome powerful Santa Clarita Valley rivals to win the Foothill League Championship. The up-coming SCV Relay Meet will be an exciting affair and will galvanize school spirit and help to focus swimmers for the up-coming League Finals. Hart hopes to duplicate last year’s four-way sweep of the event but whatever the outcome, the competition will be exciting and the races will be fun to watch.
In addition to these two exciting events will be the Royal Invitational to be held the Saturday before League Prelims. Although not a mandatory meet, all swimmers who want to preview their League races or want another shot at a CIF qualifying time are urged to attend. It will also serve as an end-of-the-year meet for those swimmers not on the limited roster for League Finals.
The Girls have a hotly contested dual meet contest this Wednesday against Canyon High School and the seniors will be honored in the last dual meet of the season against Saugus High School at the Aquatics Center.
After the League Finals all energy will be focused on the CIF championship, as Hart will battle some of the finest swimming programs in Southern California. Defending boys’ champions, La Canada is once again fielding an exceptionally strong team that includes the first and second place CIF divers from last year. The defending girls’ champions Westlake High School and the 2nd place Flintridge Sacred Heart are returning a full roster from last year’s squads. The bar is raised high but Hart is focused and energized. As in the past, it will be the power of Hart’s positive team spirit that will make the difference and it is at full-throttle going into the final four weeks of the season.
