Coach Paul began coaching Davenport Metro in August of 2008.  He currently coaches the girls at Davenport Central High School, but has been coaching swimming in one capacity or another since his senior year of high school back in 1982.  In Des Moines he coached 6 years of high school and 8 years of club swimming until getting married and moving to Davenport.  Since the move to the Quad Cities in 1994, Paul has coached at all levels-club, high school, college and masters.  Coaching honors include three time MAC high school coach of the year, and two time Iowa girls' High School District coach of the year.

                              

Coach Eure earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and a Master’s degree in Physical Education-Sports Management at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. As a swimmer at St. John’s University, Eure was a Division III college All-American in the 500 yard Freestyle (1986).

 

Paul currently volunteers on the Iowa Swimming Board of directors as the Age Group Chair.  He has been selected twice as Team Iowa's summer Zone Coach.  He has 6 children, four of which compete for Metro.  He has a very supportive and patient wife, Mary. 

Assistant Coach

Mary Collins

Coach Collins has been a coach for DMET for many years. During the summer, she teaches swim lessons at her home pool and is a great source of new swimmers to our team. Coach Collins works primarily with our beginner swimmers on proper stroke technique.


Assistant Coach

Josh Hopewell

Coach Hopewell has joined DMET as a new assistant coach for the Fall/Winter 2008-9 season.  Josh is a former area age group and high school swimmer.  He swam for Coach Paul Eure during his senior season at Pleasant Valley High School in 1995-96.  He also swam at the college level for the University of Northern Iowa.  Coach Josh enjoys working with all groups of swimmers at Davenport Metro.

Assistant Coach

Stacee Drezek

Coach Stacee joined DMET as an assistant coach during the Fall/Winter 2009-10 season.  Stacee swam competitively for fourteen years.  She began as an age group swimmer with the Moline Blue Marlins, swam for Moline Sr. High School and at the college level for the University of Wisconsin - Stout.  She earned her first All-American award at Moline and eleven more at UW-Stout.  Coach Stacee enjoys working with all of the swimmers at Davenport Metro.
